A Historic Setting.
An Unforgettable Table.

Built in the 19th century as a working citrus packing house, Stonehouse, located on the grounds of San Ysidro Ranch, is one of Santa Barbara's most storied dining destinations—recently honored as the #1 Restaurant in Santa Barbara by OpenTable and recognized by the MICHELIN Guide. Dine indoors by a wood-burning fireplace, on the ocean-view terrace beneath twinkling lights, or within one of our intimate private dining spaces. Every dish draws from the chef's organic garden steps from the kitchen, where herbs, citrus, and seasonal produce are harvested daily.

Executive Chef Matt Johnson draws on Santa Barbara's extraordinary natural pantry — citrus from the ranch's own groves, herbs from the organic garden, and the finest seasonal produce.

The Wine Cellar

Tucked beneath the Stonehouse, our temperature-controlled cellar holds an impressive collection of 16,000 bottles, with 3,500 individual labels spanning 70 renowned wine regions across the world. San Ysidro Ranch acquired a rare 138-bottle collection of Château d'Yquem wines dating back to 1811, including the legendary 1811 "Asteroid" vintage, the most expensive white wine ever sold. Described as "a collection of art," the bottles showcase remarkable history, craftsmanship, and some of the winery's most celebrated vintages.

Executive Chef
Matt Johnson

Executive Chef Matt Johnson has called San Ysidro Ranch home for nearly two decades — and his cuisine reflects it. A Santa Barbara native, Matt joined Stonehouse in 2008 and has spent years cultivating a deeply personal relationship with the land: the organic garden steps from his kitchen, the heritage citrus groves, the seasonal rhythms of California's Central Coast. His menus are elegant without being fussy — shaped by what's ready to harvest and what the moment calls for. He has represented Stonehouse at the Masters of Food and Wine and at the James Beard House in New York City.
